renting a room or apartment on L-Visa

hi, coming to shanghai soon. can i rent a room or an apartment on my usual 30day tourist L-visa??

and where do i get the temp-residents permit stamp thing? as last time i came to shanghai for 2 weeks hol in shanghai, the hotel just did it when i arrived.....

If you have the cash, you can rent an apartment.

You'd need to take the rental contract and maybe even the owner's property deed with you to register at the PSB, but it sometimes depends on the mood of the policeman who handles your registration. Best to bring the property owner with you.
