sole proprietorship / partnership

I know the difference between a limited company and a sole proprietorship, and the pros and cons.

However, is it also possible for 2 partners to operate a company that is NOT a limited company ? With other words, is there a third alternative....?

Of course, just register a business with 2 names and hey presto, job done! Once you have that business registration you are away.
