hello friends, I would like ask if some one has recently got his/her parents dependent visa below age 60. I have requested immigration to help us get united with our parents, they are under sixty. One of ur parent is not doing well with his health. Is some one there who has got visa such way? I desperately needs his/her advice/guidence. thks & rgds.
Unfortunately the Immigration Department will not allow you to sponsor your parents as dependants if they are under 60.
The deal with the Immigration Department is that any decisions they have to make which are outside of normal policy, it's up to the discretion of the Director of Immigration, so you will never get a yes or no answer from them on anything outside their policy. You can sometimes try on compassionate grounds, but not too many get approved on this ground.
Also, if I were you, I'd be loath to tell them that the reason you want them here is because one of them is sick, because that would be even more reason for them to justify their refusal.
Yes, I'm afraid that's about it. A very close friend of mine went down the same path about 4 years ago (incidentally just after the minimum age was lifted from 55 to 60, and the father was 58 at the time) and failed miserably. Ended up with the father coming in on a tourist visa for 3 months (?) and then returning home to be farmed out between other 'distant' family members. My friend was the sole child, but wouldn't consider returning to her home country to look after the father.
