A couple of years ago, I racked up my credit card to it's full amount, 15K (I know, not much), and missed a couple of payments which caused the bank to cut the account. I've been paying it off and still have a few thousand left. However, I've found it hard w/out a credit card since I purchase items from back home often. Please help me with the questions (No preachers please, I've learned my lesson...)
My questions are:
* Which banks have "easy approval" credit cards? Are smaller banks like, Mevas/BEA,Dah Sing easier?
*Does Hong Kong have "unsecured" credit cards like in the States?
Every credit card is "unsecured" unless you give them a sum of money as a deposit / guarantee. If you mean does HK have "secured" credit cards, I'm not sure. I've never seen one.
I have also never seen the sub-prime lenders in HK that would issue credit to someone with a dismal credit record. Even now in the US -- the sub-prime capital of the world -- things are getting tough.
There are secured credit cards in HK and that may be an option for the poster. As most of the credit check are done using outside companies then there is no easy option for a card.
