Recommend Good Doctor in Central
Posted by ktnjr (464 days ago)
Hi, Can anyone recommend a good general doctor in/around Central. Also, being new to HK, I expect Doctor's are expensive, I presume you hv to book in advance, vs walking in?
I have been here one month and have had a bad cough for 2 weeks - does anyone else have the same problem, I'm thinking the pollution doesn't help - or perhaps is even the cause.
Tks.

Hi, a chronic cough can have many causes, but if its a pollution cough it can be stopped. my doctors number is 28497236 (yes, you need to make an apt for most doctors)

Dr David Stirling is great but costs a bomb. You can go to a local dr in central and pay 1/4 including meds for the exact same treatment.
Another good option is HK Central Hospital clinic. It's in Central and the out patient clinic is excellent and very reasonable.

There is a wide range of possibilities. If you are insured for private doctors (good insurance, not the cheapest ones which limit you to the 3 minutes medicine and 5 bags of pills) then any doctor you care to choose. If you are not insured, then you have to make a value decision - how much is my wellness worth to me and my family? It is not just a matter of how expensive, but what value do I get?
You can usually get an appointment on the day you wish, also walk-in is possible, but then you need to allow for a waiting time.
But for a cough, I would suggest that the air may be a cause, but there are a lot of viruses around just now. As said above, until you have a chance to find "your" doctor, then the Central Hospital is a good choice.
