last week I gave some blood for test, the nurse was not expereince and try to take blood from my right arm could not do it then took from left arm and its 5 days my whole arm is swallon and got purple color bruise with dots on it. Its still painful and hurts. It never happened before. all test normal one more bad thing. My blood test IMMONOLOGY. ANTI NUCLEAR FACTORY POSITIVE 1:160 doctor sent to me to neurologiest. I am scare to do another blood test any advise pls
Maybe your reaction is because of your positive Anti Nuclear Factor result. As far as I'm aware ANF or ANA is testing for autoimmune conditions. Your doctor should advise you about future blood testing. I'm not a doctor but have had medical laboratory experience.
Hi, I took 2 weeks now the arm looks bit normal and bruise is fading away. I wanted to ask which specialist to see if your blood have IMMONOLOGY. ANTI NUCLEAR FACTORY POSITIVE 1:160
You need to see a Rheumatologist. There is a specialty Allergy/Immunology, but if your ANA is postive, a Rheumatologist is a way to go until you rule out an "autoimmune disease" (used to be called a "connective tissue" disease).
As for the arm, because it's purple and swollen, and not white or pale, the person probably hit a vein (and not an artery) and caused a blood clot that blocked the venous return. Not something too worrisome and it will get better. An inexperience person is more likely to cause but really anyone can. It is more often because you got lousy veins. A common mistake is for people to ask the doctor instead of a nurse to do it next time. The doctor is usually very out of practice and usually the worse person to do it. Not really preventable, but then again, not really a big deal either.
Even if you do have a condition that cause you to clot more easily, you still gotta do the blood test and the arm is the best place to go (the alternatives are worse). Maybe ask the do the other arm the next time.
