Has anyone else had the same problem?
I had my baby in QMH last year and had every intention of doing so this time only I have been told that I don't live in Central "so find a hospital in your district".
When did this all change?
Had anyone else had the same response when trying to register with public/Gvmt hospitals
More to the point is there a way around this (without moving)?
ya, i think so since the influx of China pregnant women here to give birth. I was told to go to the hospital near my area to register and do all the check-ups. I gave birth at PMH and they are so good.
You are right, PMH is Princess Margaret Hospital. Yes, in fact I was supposed to give birth at Seventh Day Adventist Hospital at Tsuen Wan (Living in Tung Chung so it's the nearest) but there was no more room or bed to give birth just before CNY.... too many China Pregnant Women had booked in there way before their due date! My Gyne told me to quickly go check-up at PMH and he told me PMH is very good with all the facilities to cope with anything. I took his advise to went there to do regular check-up at 7.5 months till birth. Breech, had C-section, baby had juandice...everything turned out well, the staff are really nice, wardmates were very supportive and full of laughter. i truly enjoyed my time there and not to mention, save a big load! Imagine having to have C-section myself and phototherapy on baby? Friend had her baby at QMH and PMH, she said no different.
We live in Tung Chung but we wanted to have the checkup and pregnancy in Tsan Yuk and Queen Mary. At first they said that since we live in Tung Chung, we have to have our check up at Tung Chung clinic and give birth at Princess Margarette. We however reasoned out that my wife was working in Central, so it would be more convenient for her to have checkups and give birth at Queen Mary. They agreed to it.
Maybe you could try this method to get your hospital choice?
