Healthy breakfast ideas for someone with a hectic work schedule and who needs to eat on the go
Posted by raincatcher (775 days ago)
Any suggestion? My daily schedule goes like this:
6:30-7:30 - Workout @ gym - need to do so on empty stomach because it's too early to eat (no appetite) and I'll get stomachache if I eat just before exercise
7:30-8:45 - Shower -> Travelling to office (IFC to Quarry Bay)
I probably only have 15 minutes for breakfast and may need to eat on the go or at my desk.

Hm.. my daily breakfast is warm soy milk with cereal, banana and honey to add the sweetness. It takes only 10min to warm soy milk with cereal in microwave, cut 1 banana and add honey. Not so appealing but it fills my stomach till noon time and definitely healthy breakfast

Oats tend to stick with one longer than other foods. How about a bowl of granola or muesli with dried fruits and nuts added? You can heat up the milk or soya milk if you like.
Leftover pizza usually goes over well too!

How about some healthy muffins and cut fruit? You could bake a big batch of muffins and freeze them... easy to grab for those mornings when you're in a hurry. i agree about the oatmeal and muesli, they will hold you over for a while. I sometimes soak regular rolled oats in soy milk overnight, then add some banana, strawberries, grated apple or other fruit in the morning. if you really want to bump up the nutritional value, add some flax meal.
You'll find some good muffin recipes here...

Muffins are generally garbage full of fattening crap and sugar, yes even the so-called healthy bran muffin, white bread is absolute poison.
Try throwing a banana, chopped apple and/or pear into a blender along with some frozen blueberries a couple of big spoonfuls of no fat skim powder and water. Grind it up for a filling smoothy and have it with a piece of whole grain toast if you cant see the grainy pcs in it then its not healthy btw.
Low fat, high in fibre, some protein, it gets no healthier than this.

My hubby does the large smoothie, we do no fat plain yoghurt, bran or wheatgerm, frozen berries (strawberry, raspberry or similar) as fresh are hard to get fresh everyday and they go off so quickly and the frozen also adds to the temperature, ice cubes, tablespoon of honey, large bannana and some skim milk. He takes it in a large shake container and says doesn't need to eat until 11 when he then has smalll bowl of cereal with fruit. You have to wash the blender however before you go or else it is all caked on by the time you get home.

I also prepare hard-boiled eggs for my husband who eats only the egg whites. You can cook a dozen or so during the weekend and store them in the ref.
I peel off the shells and remove the yolks and put them in ziplock plastic bags for my husband to take along. Makes for a good snack after workout..

this might be kind of disgusting, as my roommates like to tell me. I usually just put wheaties or any kind of plain cereal with some yougurt and just mixed them together. It's sweet and crunchy. Kind of like yougurt with granola.

Why not make a big batch of savoury muffins( spinach, sundried tomatoes, even okra)with low fat cheese in or frittatas sliced to portions. You can freeze them and leave it out to defrost in the fridge the night before. This is a good breakfast to go and tin of V8 Juice. Healthy and filling breakfast. This will add varueity to all the good ideas already given by others.

I'm a brekkie on the run girl... with good intentions of making things the night before or in the morning! Cafe O have a great breakfast trifle of oats, natural yoghurt, blueberries, strawberries and honey. Or organic Breakfast smoothie from MIX (banana, soy, oats and honey).
