Am looking for one which is around 20-60GB.
What other specifications to look out for, like USB2.0 (or higher?) and how much is the market price.
Where could I get these?
Thanks
I have been looking at external hard drives recently myself and her is what i have learnt that could be helpful! Your standard on the market hard drive is usb 1.1 and 2.0 compatible unless otherwise specified... avoid any that are only usb 1.1 as they are probably fairly old!
Avoid External hard drive's with poor Transfer rates. depending on your needs you probably want about 450mbs (mega bytes per second) transfer... which is the speed information can travel between you pc and hard drive. obviously the slower the more patients you will need... think of your internet speed... are you a patient person?
Second have you thought about getting a hard drive and a drive cover seperately? the box is quite literally just a container with a connection point the hard drive plugs into... so it can save dollars purchasing seperatly.
thrid... try different sorces... Ebay, computer markets, online... dont just go to a big store and by whats easy because the price will be very different! (unless you want it all to be really easy...)
Finally... have a good think about what size you want... I remember once saying "I will never fill 80gb's" and about three months later having no storage... but tht is up to you...
often you can get 200gb for only $20 - $30 more (if you know the right suppliers well enough.)
