Mail Merge

Does anyone know how to do a mail merge using Mozilla Thunderbird?
I used to be able to do it using Outlook but strangely can't find an equivalent function or extension in Thunderbird.

A quick google search on "thunderbird mail merge" comes up with about 939,000 hits. There may or may not be a solution amongst them. The second hit, in the list I have, would seem to address how to do it with OpenOffice writer and tbird.

Thanks, ldldjr. I can assure you that I've been searching Google for ages and can't find a solution.
The first link in your google search states it cannot be done.
The second link you mention is no good because OpenOffice Writer only use Thunderbird as a source and can only output to printer or file.
Many of the others concern merging two emails together.
I need to generate and send emails in Thunderbird using some kind of data source and was hoping someone else might have managed to do this before.
