Hi, I just bought a new comp. Can someone tell me where can I get free downloads like winzip, pdf, etc.... downloads.com was no use

Why not "Google" for it? And anyway - don't let your 'puter loose on the Internet without :

1) Using GRC.COM's free programs to slam the doors on Ports that MicroSquelch stupidly left wide open to intruders.

2) Installing ZoneAlarm's FREE Firewall.

3) Installing Grisoft's FREE anti-virus.

4) Seeking the additional protection of running behind a secure ROUTER.

Doing otherwise could very well result in your computer becoming a SPAMBOT machine at the very least.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/ has lots of goodies there in many categories. I find their site a valuable resource. A lot of it is freeware, though some of it is shareware or trialware.

www.openoffice.org will get you to the open office suite downloads.
