Blast ! my ipod Nano quest has turned out since the new ipod Nano is now out and haven't clicked on the BUY NOW command of my computer....
I've heard that you (I, in this case) should always wait for ipod "updated' versions of new models, as the first release usually bugs...
So has someone tried it ?
How is it working ?
What is the max capacity ?
Any compatible peripherics (loud speakers, etc.) ?
I guess you are referring to the "fatty"nano with video support? I've read reviews, and they are mostly positive. However I probably won't be getting one, it might be sexy and slim....very slim, but to be honest I don't think most individuals would ever enjoy watching videos on a tiny 2 inch screen. You probably appreciate the video support, but you will end up never using it. I believe 8Gb capacity is the max. I've also heard the accessories are most incompatible with the older nanos.
Speaking of the bugs, I assume you are referring to firmware. I don't think that is a concern, since when there are new firmware releases you can update your iPod via iTunes anyway, so that's not much to worry.
However I am a bit concerned on a fragile mirror coating at the back, you will need some silicon case for protection, or else I can pretty much guarantee within a few days the back of your nano will look like someone has figure skated on it.
I've had the 8GB version now for over 2 weeks and it's great. Strictly speaking it only comes with about 7.4GB's available due to the pre-installed software some of which I would like to remove if I could eg photos, calender, video...
The only issue is that you have to remove the headphones before you can remove the apple firewire cable from the base of the Nano. Also the lock key is fiddly and small (!).
Incidentally I bought the flash based Nano because my regular hard-drive ipod is dying, just outside of the warranty of course...
