Whatever the enclosures say, there are only like 4-5 actual manufacturers of drives. The only only I have consistently heard dodgy stuff about is Maxtor.
Several friends and I have used Samsung drives with no problems. But of course individual experience may vary.
To be fair, I wouldn't worry much about differences. Most drives nowadays are very reliable. And of course even the most nominally reliable drive can crash tomorrow.
I have a 40GB Samsung one that's been great - once I ran a virus checker on it. It came with a virus on it, which was easily picked up by AVG as soon as I connected it via the USB.
I would recommend that whatever one you buy to run a virus scanner on it first
I and my many friends buy samsung we working with Graphic Design Program like Photoshop, CorelDraw and 3DS Max.
Many times samsung cannot hold system becoz of this programs
just for data maybe it's ok but when u useing it hardly it's not enough powerful
So better Seagate Barracuda :)
