IT support
Posted by guitardude (544 days ago)
Our office is looking for a person or company who can provide IT support to about 10 networked computers, handle periodic backups and configuations of computers. We need someone in particular who is familiar with the installaton of outlook and its contacts and calendar. Given all the horror stories I have heard about IT support providers, does anyone have any recommendatons? Thanks

Hi,
Just wanna ask, is your plan is just to connect all computers in a local area network without server and just have their internet connections and outlook? If you say outlook, is it Outlook Express or MS Outlook? Are the calendars will be shared to all users so as the contacts?

Thanks for the reply.
To be specific, we have 6 computers running XP and Office 2003 on a shared network with a workgroup (ie not a domain), We do not have a server. We rely heavily on contacts and calendars which we like to share amongst the various users and we have purchased an add-in that lets us share the .pst files across the network. We also have one computer running Win98SE, as this has a postoffice which lets us send email internally within our network. We do not want to buy MS Exchange as this is costly and more than we need for functionality. All of the above works fine but one of the computers we use is a laptop and runs outlook in 2 profiles, office and mobile, and in the latter setting it does not use the “services” shared contacts and postoffice.
Can you help? Thanks
