Hi,
Has anyone been to the offshore islands outside KK? Which one would you recommend? How long does it take to get there (from KK town centre.)? Is this the jelly fish season (April) in KK?We're going there during Easter with our 5 year-old. Any suggestion for child friendly activities in KK much appreciated.
Went long time ago (11 years), it was great but heard it changed a lot, not sure how though.
The names of the islands group is: TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN PARK, it's a nature national park under rangers management.
it takes about 20 to 30 minutes by speedboat from KK centre(jetty in from of the Hyatt hotel at that time), I can't say for price at it was too long ago.
We had jellyfishes only around Pulau Sulug.
Monsipiad Village - a small community/village run heritage village based around head hunting and history. They taught us traditional games, how to harvest and thrash rice by hand, homes and also how respectful they are of their skulls hanging in the ceremonial hut. The more questions you ask the guide the more fun you'll have. You ring them and they'll pick you up from any hotel in/around kk. Appear not to be actively promoted by hotels because they don't offer kickback. Google it for details.
Also, horse riding at Kindawan. Dale (Aussie lady) runs it. Horse riding or lessons or just walks along the beach. Also not available through hotels because of lack of kickback. Just ring her.
