Macau Hotel

Anyone travelled to Macau recently and stayed in a cheaper hotel, around HK$400 - 600 a night, comfortable, central, safe with reasonable facilities? THe prices have jumped a lot since the casinoes have entered the harbour front. Just want a clean, comfortable room for several days of sightseeing.
Appreciate any recommendations.

My fave hotel in Macau is Pousada de Mong-Ha. Stayed there a few times and never disappointed. See http://www.ift.edu.mo/pousada/eng/rates.htm

Hotel Sintra - new, nice, clean and central - prices on their website

Would also recommend the Sintra... - great value for money and good location. However, do not bother with the continental breakfast, unless you like two miniscule pieces of wafer-thin bread with the crusts cut off. A second breakfast was required quite quickly!
