Long weekend suggestion

What is a good suggestion for a long weekend. Looking for a resort type experience. Not in Singapore, Malaysia, Phuket or Bali. Preferably some place better to visit from HK than Singapore. Also, any suggestions for a Japan trip instead are welcome.

Not a resort, but thoroughly recommend a weekend in a Ryokan in Kyoto. If you want a beach, what about Vietnam?

in Vietnam you have to either take internal flight as well as international to get to anywhere near a beach - or drive for 4 hours - so not so good for a weekend I would say
